“The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words.” –Elliot Erwitt
Wow, “About Me”. This section ranks right up there with the “So tell me about yourself” question feared in interviews. Right?
Instead of “about me”, let me say “WHY me”.
I am a professional photographer. This is what I do. This is not a part time hobby, or a way to earn a little extra cash without Uncle Sam knowing about it, or a way to pass my time until my next “real” job.
Photography is what I do.
I’ve been doing this a while, have learned alot, and will never stop learning. As a professional, I actively seek out opportunities to learn from some of the best in my industry, not in large seminars (though I do occasionally attend those), but in small workshops where the learning is intense and lasts for days.
I will not take 200, 300, 400+ photos during a portrait session hoping to get one that you like. I take care to ensure that you will look your best before I release the camera shutter. I’ve learned that it is hard for me to be in front of the camera. I can’t imagine it’s any easier for you! Placing people at ease is my biggest asset. So I’m patient and wait for the moment…I only need one!
I am not the cheapest thing to come along. I value what I do. That value is expressed in knowing that the portrait I create will be a part of a family’s history for years to come.
Oh, and my name is John-Mark, I have been married for 24 years to the smartest, most beautiful, amazing, confident, loving, caring lady that was just silly enough to say yes when I asked her to marry me! I have 2 1/2 daughters (1 1/2 in college, and I can tell you about the 1/2 when we meet) and a four-legged, canine assistant who somehow manages to get into the photos. Almost forgot that part.
